Kindergarten Registration Begins March 1
Kindergarten registration in Idaho Falls School District 91 will be from March 1 to April 9.  If a school has more kindergartners registered than available spots when registration ends on April 9, students will be placed using a lottery system. Kindergartners registering after April 9, will be placed on a space available basis.

Return the Registration Packet to your neighborhood school by April 9, along with a copy of your child's birth certificate and current immunization records.  Children must be five years old by September 2010 to enter kindergarten in the fall.

Board Sets Election Date For Bond
The Idaho Falls School Board has set a May 18 election date for a $57.5 million bond that will address the district’s most critical building needs.

A recent survey of registered voters shows 82% of our patrons would consider voting in favor of a bond to pay for school improvements. How will the bond affect me?

The bond will pay for projects that will make our schools safer, improve classroom learning and upgrade the science labs in our secondary schools. The district’s other needs will be addressed with another bond in a few years. Tell us what you think

Theresa Bunker Elementary was built in 1963.  It is one of the smallest schools in the school district.  We have two classrooms for each grade and our student body ranges from preschool developmentally delayed students (3-5 year olds) up to sixth grade students.  We also have one Developmentally Adjusted Curriculum Classroom (DACC) for 5th and 6th grade students.

At the beginning of the 2004-2005 school year, Theresa Bunker began assigning and grouping students to classes according to their levels of ability school-wide in reading and math to help meet the individual needs of all our students.  The students are taught by a certified classroom teacher and assisted by our Title I Tutors.  The Reading and Math classes follow a plan of uninterrupted instruction and are taught in the morning.

There are unique aspects included in this Bunker academic model:

  • Scheduling - In order to have uninterrupted instruction in the morning for Reading and Math, it was necessary to have our Music and PE Specialists assigned to our school in the afternoons only.  We also received assistance from the school district to hire two classified instructors to teach additional enrichment classes of vocal music/keyboarding instruction and Spanish.
  • Special Education Students - Students who have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for Reading or Math are not "pulled out" of the homeroom classes for individual instruction any more because their needs are met in the various grouping levels.
  • Enrichment Classes - The school district has also assisted us in providing classified instructors to teach additional vocal music and keyboarding instruction beyond the classes taught by our district Music Specialists.  The students also receive instruction in Spanish once a week.  Other arts and craft classes are taught after school once a week directed and organized by Bunker parents.  Students who need bus rides home are driven home by the school principal.
