Edgemont Elementary Accepts Rachel's Challenge!
Edgemont had an assembly teaching the students the importance of kindness and compassion. The assembly had many educational and entertaining aspects. Students from Idaho Falls High School developed and performed role-plays encouraging and showing students how to perform acts of kindness and compassion. The students then watched a video about Rachel Scott's life and the many acts of kindess that she performed. Rachel was the1st student killed in Columbine High School shooting. After the video Mr. Webster (the school counselor) reinforced the idea of doing random acts of kindness. The students were taught that they will have to focus on doing kind acts and if they do they will be able to start a "chain reaction" of kindness. The students will observe others performing acts of kindness and then write the act on a slip of paper. These papers will be combined with others to form a chain that will be displayed in classrooms and then in hallways of Edgemont.
