Lunchroom Guidelines

Power of Positive Students

Your teachers are teaching you knowledge and skills to help you earn a living. In the lunchroom, you are learning manners. Just as each class has rules, so does the lunchroom. A record is kept of how you use your good manners by “+” or “-“. You are either following the rules or you are not. These “+'s” and “-'s” earn your class their order in coming to lunch and being excused form the lunchroom. The first class will have the bear/penguin for the day in their classroom.

You will need a note from YOUR TEACHER if you are not going out on the playground or if you need to go back to the class. All other students must go outside.

Room Manners

  1. Wait QUIETLY in your classroom, reading at your own desk.
  2. If you are slow lining up, we will go the next class.
  3. If you are not waiting, as you should, you will be skipped until last.

Hall Manners

  1. The same hall manners that are required by your teachers are expected at lunchtime.
  2. Come in order. (A-B-C)
  3. If you are having lunch, and are not on the lunch count, you will be placed at the end of the lunch line – not the end of your class line, but at the end of all class lines. Your teacher will read back to you who she marked or didn’t mark for lunch each morning. If you ordered lunch and do not hear your name, it is your responsibility to tell her immediately.
  4. No tattling.

Lunchroom

  1. Visit QUIETLY with immediate neighbors.
  2. Stay seated until finished eating.
  3. Finish at the table, (includes suckers, candy etc.)
  4. Sit anywhere on your class table.
  5. Think card – Reminder
  6. No sharing food. (Hepatitis, etc.)
  7. No teasing or hiding food.
  8. Saving seats is OK if there is no commotion.
  9. When through with lunch, you may clean your tray and return to your seat until excused. Sit and visit QUIETLY.

Table

  1. You need to clear and clean your own area when you have finished eating. You are responsible for your own mess.
  2. Close the opening to your milk carton before moving or throwing it away.
  3. Don’t change directions abruptly.

Lunch Basket

  1. Place all balls and equipment in the basket.
  2. Place next to wall!!
  3. Pick up and return to your class after recess.

Excused

  1. Don’t wait for friends.
  2. No running or speed walking; you may run into others.
  3. No food outside; finish eating at your table.
  4. After all are excused, you will be moved up to the first table.
  5. No bouncing balls in our school cafeteria.
