Graduation Ceremonies
Graduation ceremonies for Emerson High School will be Thursday, May 24, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Clair E. Gale. Students should be there by 6:30 p.m.

Skyline High School's graduation ceremony is Tuesday, May 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the gymnasium. Graduates should be in line no later than 6:45 p.m. Each student will receive six tickets to graduation. Students can request extra tickets by picking up a request form at the main office and returning it by May 24. The senior all-night party will be at the Apple Athletic Club.

Commencement exercises for Idaho Falls High School are Wednesday, May 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Civic Auditorium. Each student will receive four tickets to graduation. Additional tickets can be requested in writing by a parent. Requests must be turned in to the secretary in the main office. Extra seating in the auditorium is not guaranteed. Additional overflow seating is available in the Little Theater with closed-circuit viewing. The all-night graduation party will be at the Elks Lodge from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

 

school Summer School Still Accepting Applications
Students in grades 7-12 who are trying to make up credits or get ahead can now register for summer school. A variety of classes are available in the subject areas of math, science, social studies and language arts. Summer school includes traditional classes and online classes in three sessions – June 1-19, June 20-July 3 and July 5-18. Winners of the Blazing A Trail to Literacy reading contest will ride to school on a fire truck this week courtesy of the Idaho Falls Fire Department. Firefighters will be picking students up Wednesday through Friday. AwardCNA Program Receives State Recognition
The Certified Nursing Assistant program at Skyline High School, which is part of the Eastern Idaho Professional-Technical High School, has been named the 2012 Idaho Secondary PTE Exemplary Program.

The program, overseen by Skyline’s Sydney Zohner, was recognized because it is the only one in the state that provides opportunities to all students regardless of their GPA. This year, 47 students completed the program, including some students who started with a 1.0 GPA.

 

District 91’s Child Nutrition Staff Honored
school lunchIdaho Falls School District 91’s child nutrition staff recently was recognized by the Idaho State Department of Education for its efforts to ensure children in the district receive high quality and nutritious meals. The department’s teamwork, compliance with USDA and Idaho Nutrition Standards and its ability to solve problems were also recognized.

 

calendarCalendar Change: Secondary Schools Out On May 30
The last day of school for junior high and high schools students will be May 30, which will be a full day of school. The change was made to allow staff to prepare for the secondary school changes coming this fall. Calendar Elementary schools are not impacted by this restructuring. The last day of school for elementary school students will be June 1 and students will be dismissed early. Questions? Send them to us

 

6th Graders Prepare for Annual Track Meet
track meetMore than 700 students will take part in Idaho Falls School District 91’s annual track meet at Ravsten Stadium May 22-May 24. Students will take part in a variety of track and field events. This year’s track meet is made possible, in part, to Apple Athletic Club, which contributed money for the transportation.
