high school graduatesIdaho Falls School District 91 has restructured its secondary schools as part of an effort to better prepare students for college and the world of work.

Beginning in the fall of 2012, Idaho Falls School District 91 will have two comprehensive high schools – Idaho Falls and Skyline – that will serve students in grades 9 through 12.  Students at these schools have access to the widest array of classes, including advanced placement classes, dual enrollment classes, professional technical classes and electives. In addition, students can participate in a variety of extracurricular activities such as athletics, band, choir, music, student government and other clubs and organizations.students

The district is opening Compass Academy, a new magnet high school through the New Tech Network. The school opened in fall 2012 with about 300 freshmen and sophomores. A new class will be added each year so that within three years the school will be a four-year high school with about 600 students in grades 9-12. Instruction will be provided using projects that involve real-world problems to teach key principles. In addition, some subjects will be integrated and technology will be an integral part of every day. Want to learn more? See Compass Academy FAQ.

For students who have not been successful in a traditional high school setting, the district offers Emerson High. Emerson’s offerings include traditional classes offerings in six-week sessions, an online academy and summer school.
