Behavior Foundations Proactive Strategies Workshop

 

  • This 2 day training (May 31 - June 1) is appropriate for general education teachers, special education teachers, administrators, and related service staff members. Paraprofessionals are welcome but are encouraged to attend with a school team or special education supervisor/teacher due to the planning/workshop format. Teams and individuals will have the opportunity to participate in face to face training and guided planning related to proactive strategies that support of students with challenging behavior. The content will be very similar to the Behavior Foundations 1 Fall training on proactive strategies. Teams or individuals will have embedded planning sessions throughout the 2-day workshop.

Behavior Foundations Winter

Behavior Foundations Face-to-Face consists of two one-day trainings. The first was held in the Fall and the current is scheduled for Spring (February/March). The Fall training focused on practical applications of evidence-based intervention strategies for individuals with ineffective or problem behavior. Spring training will focus on conducting functional behavioral assessment and designing interventions that will increase engagement in appropriate alternative and desirable replacement behaviors that will lead to individual success and academic growth.
There are more ways to benefit from the Behavior Foundations training series! Behavior Foundations Face-to-Face is the first of the four-part Idaho Behavior Foundations Academy that will assist schools, districts, and regions to achieve effective practices for students with problem behavior.

Communicative Competence in Learners with Significant Disabilities Winter

Session 1: This session will focus on assessing levels of communication for learners at the non-symbolic or
early symbolic level of communication. The Communication Matrix will be used to review the
assessment process and how to target levels for instruction and programming.


Session 2: This session will discuss the difference between intentional and intentionally communicative
behaviors in learners at the non-symbolic and early symbolic levels of communication. Students
will be presented with a variety of examples of learners at various ages and how the process
used to encourage more communicative communication.


Session 3: : Programming and Instruction for Learners at the Non-Symbolic Level
This session will discuss a process for making decisions on instructional goals and objectives for
learners at the non-symbolic and early symbolic levels of communication. Students will discuss

Regions V & VI Meeting the Core Literacy Standards across the Content Areas: Science and Social Studies Focus These three day workshops will focus on how to use the core standards as a tool for student literacy, with a focus on science and social studies content areas. The kings of reading, writing, speaking, listening and problem-solving experts in the content areas do will be the basis for teachers to frame curriculum as inquiry, as a problem to be solved. Teachers will focus on integrating literacy strategies that work in service of solving the problems of the discipline, and helping students think an demonstrate their understanding as scientist or social scientist do. (K-12)
