FAFSA Information

Application Open Oct. 1st

Apply for federal financial aid through the FAFSA website.  Federal aid can include grants (do not have to re-pay), student and parent loans, and work-study programs.  Use the these links and videos to navigate through your FAFSA needs.  **In order to fill out the FAFSA you must know your Social Security Number.

A five-question survey was sent to all Idaho higher education institutions in an effort to clarify current financial aid processes and scholarship expectations. See the questions immediately following this paragraph, then scroll (below) to the institution of your choice and see that school's answers.

Brigham Young University - Idaho | BYU-I

Q1: The BYU-I FAFSA priority deadlines are January 1 and June 1, 2021. The priority deadlines to submit all verification documents are February 1 and July 1, 2021.

Q2: March 1, 2021 for the 2021-2022 award year.

Q3: Yes, BYU-I has a priority deadline to ensure sufficient time to process students' financial aid before the start of each semester. Also, if a student meets the priority deadline, late fees may be waived if financial aid isn't released by the time late fees are applied.

Q4: June 30, 2021, for the 2021-2022 award year.

College of Idaho | C of I

Q1: C of I does not have a financial aid deadline for fall 2021 or Summer 2021.

Q2: C of I has a soft deadline of April 1

Q3: Yes. This is a ‘soft’ deadline meaning that C of I wants to be able to give families the best possible financial aid package before they make their decision on May 1.  Ideally, receiving a family’s FAFSA by that date would help ensure that the College can provide a comprehensive financial aid package.

Q4: The College of Idaho does not have a deadline–student financial aid offers are updated all year long.

Lewis-Clark State College | LC State

Q1: The FAFSA is accepted for the entire academic year up to the Federal Deadline. The LCSC financial aid deadline for summer 2021 is June 30, 2021 and for fall 2021 is June 30, 2022.

College of Eastern Idaho | CEI

Q1: CEI does not have a FAFSA deadline other than the Federal deadline. So for summer 2021 it is June 30th 2021, the fall 2021 deadline is June 30th 2022.

Q2: The CSI FAFSA priority deadlines are as follows: June 1 for Fall, November 1 for Spring, February 1 for Summer.

Q3: Students who complete the FAFSA by the priority deadline(s) (listed above) will have their Financial Aid ready by the fee deadline and will receive their aid by the first day of classes. Students who apply for aid after the priority deadline may have to wait to receive their aid until after the first day of class. Students may also have to pay fees out of pocket if their aid is not ready by the fee deadline.

Q5: CEI Scholarships

University of Idaho | U of I

Q1: There is no summer 2021 deadline.  U of I has a priority filing date of December 1st.

Q2: The FAFSA priority deadline at U of I is December 1st.

Q3: December 1st is the University of Idaho's financial aid priority deadline.  Students who file by this date—and meet other award requirements—will get first consideration for work study and the Supplemental Opportunity Grant.

Q4: Two weeks before the end of the term.

Q5: The University of Idaho does not have scholarship applications; scholarships are awarded based on the admissions application. 

Idaho State University | ISU

Q1: There are no scholarships for Summer 2021.  The scholarship deadline for Fall 2021 is February 15, 2021. To be eligible, students must be fully admitted by this deadline.

Q2: ISU does not have a priority deadline for federal aid, but students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by March 1 of each year.

Q3: SEOG (FSEOG – Federal Supplemental Opportunity Grants) are awarded on a first come, first serve basis. ISU has never had enough of a federal allotment to award all of the eligible students who complete the FAFSA by March 1.  Federal CWS (College Work Study) is managed through departmental utilization so any eligible student who secures work study eligible employment, and has financial need, will be awarded state or federal CWS.

Q4: The ISU completion deadline is the federal deadline—June 30th of each year for the academic year.

College of Southern Idaho | CSI

Q1: CSI has no deadlines for financial aid.

Q3: March 1 is the priority deadline for supplemental grant consideration.

Q4: CSI has no deadlines around the FAFSA.
