The addition of a Scripting question provides evaluators with an extra tool to capture evidence when observing a classroom. The goal of scripting is to capture an objective snapshot of the classroom interactions for the observation or walkthrough. This impartial evidence can then be valuable for coaching, encouragement and praise during subsequent conversations with the educator.

The scripting question type is flexible to how your organization conducts scripted observations. It will timestamp each script note as it is recorded, allow for comments and facilitate tagging of those elements.

You can differentiate between teacher, student and general observations. The indent level will follow the use of standalone “T” and “S” characters:

• •To script a distinct observation note, type your comments and hit return/enter to save. That item will then be recorded making it available for tagging or commenting later.
 
• •To script a note about the teacher, type a "T" and space before you begin typing what you have observed for the teacher. Hit the enter key on your keyboard to submit.
 
• •To script a note on students, type an "S" and space before you begin typing what you have observed for the student. Hit the enter key on your keyboard to submit.
 

Tagging a Note:

• •Each scripting note and related comments can be tagged to work in conjunction with Quick Search. If tagging is enabled for the Script question, the tagging window will automatically pop up, allowing evaluators to choose any relevant tags.
 
• •Tags may also be added after the observation or walkthrough by clicking the edit icon.
